Having spent a short amount of time over this past summer working at a boutique florist is central London, it confirmed that floristry is definitely an area I would like to pursue a career in. As a result I started on a floristry course in September 2011, only to find out it was cancelled after just one week due to a lack of people enrolled on the course. Not being disheartened, I found a new course and here I am 6 weeks on, and I must say, enjoying every minute of it.
Since taking on the course, I have had to design and create a long and low monochromatic arrangement: the type you would have at a funeral or even placed at the top table of a wedding; a tropical hand tied bouquet; a pave arrangement and this week a Victorian posy.
All have proven to be quite daunting at first but no less very rewarding once made and also very enjoyable and theraputic.
To further document my work, I have created a Flickr account where, should you wish, you can see a gallery of my work to date. http://www.flickr.com/photos/holrs/
Here is a little taster:
I hope to be able be able to update this blog very frequently as a means to diarise my progress and of course to keep track of what I have been doing in order to write the appropriate information for my coursework portfolio.
